Last week I shared some outdoor places that are beautiful to visit in the Summer. This week the theme is places for family fun such as amusement parks and museums. I have been to all but two of the places I will be sharing about this week.

I want to start with a place that you can cool down and play in the water. Water World is one of America's largest family water parks. It is located 15 minutes North of downtown Denver. This is one of the places I have not been to yet but we will be going this Summer. My daughter will love it because she is such a water baby. They have tons of attractions for young kids and adults. You are even able to rent out cabanas and bring your own lunch. There is food at the park to purchase as well.
Denver Children's Museum is a great place to take your kids. There are tons of hands on exhibits for all ages to enjoy. We have not been here yet but it is on our Summer list of places to visit. There is actually an expansion going on at the museum and I am excited to see what it will bring with it.
Next up is Elitch Gardens. It is a theme and water park. My husband has plans for us to go this Summer. I have not been since I was a young teen. There are rides for young kids and even roller coasters. There are many options for food and concessions as well. In the Summer there are concerts that you can attend too. The concerts are free with admission!
There are two zoos in our state. One is in the heart of Denver (The Denver Zoo) and the other is in Colorado Springs (Cheyenne Mountain Zoo). My family really enjoys both of them especially in the Summer. They both have a lot to offer and are set up differently. We really enjoy the elephant exhibit at the Denver zoo and the wallaby exhibit at Cheyenne Mountain Zoo.
I have not been to this next one in about 3 years. The Downtown Aquarium is a pretty awesome place to visit and eat. They have a restaurant built in next to the aquarium. There are a lot of fish and other water animals on exhibit. My daughter really loves fish so we plan to get out here this Summer. My favorite part is petting sting rays and the underwater swimming mermaids. It is such a fun place to take the kiddos.
Denver and surrounding areas have a lot of other fun places to offer as well. These are just a few that my family enjoys or plans on visiting this Summer.
Does your area have museums or other fun place you enjoy visiting?
