5 Tips to Getting a More Organized Desk

Everything has its place, well okay maybe it doesn't but I am working on it. I like to have my desk as organized as I can but sometimes I get so much build up that it is overwhelming. I am going to share some tips today on how to keep that build up away and get more organized.

This was my desk the other day and I used this picture for an Instagram picture challenge. This picture is actually on a good day. There are only a few review items hanging around and I was working on a school paper that day. The right side bin was organized and the papers by it are now put where they go. On the left side it always looks like that haha. My baskets need to be cleaned out.

Tips:

1.) Baskets. I use a lot of baskets on my desk and all around the house. I like to use them on my desk for pens, small books, and any miscellaneous that piles up on my desk. I actually got my baskets at a dollar store and there were three in a set.

2.) Use calendars. I write everything on my calendar and even mark the day off as we go. I also have a white board that I use to write school assignments on each week. These tools help me stay on top of what needs to be done.

3.) Use a hanging organizer for papers that take up room. I have a thirty-one wall organizer that I love. I put all of my extra papers that are important and a few craft items in it. I think this helps to keep some clutter off of my desk.

4.) Go through all paper work once a month at the least. I try to do it every other week and get rid of un-needed papers and pile up. This is a very important part of organization. If you just let it all pile up then it is pointless.

5.) File organizers. I use two file organizers on my desk. They do not contain files but important books and blog tools that I use daily. One does have some craft stuff in it for my daughter. It is there when I need it and I know where it is. I like when my stuff has a place and stays in that place.

How do you keep your desk organized?

  1. I work at a tiny desk at home and at libraries and coffee shops all the time, so my whole desk basically has to find in a tote bag. It's a big tote bag, but I use the trick at my actual desk, too. It even has a dedicated space for the tote bag.

  4. #4 is key! We try to go through our incoming mail and paperwork daily so that it doesn't pile up. Everything non-essential gets tossed or shredded! I'm enjoying co-hosting the #HomeMattersParty with you :)
