Valentines Lady Bug Craft

I have seen blogs that show you the finished product first but I like to keep a little wonder. Today we are making a Valentine's ladybug.

Materials needed:
Pink, black, and red construction paper
Fastener
Scissors
Heart to trace
Glue

This is a really easy and cute craft for Valentine's Day. It is sneaking up on us really fast!
The first step you will need to do is cut out a heart on the pink, black and red paper. The red heart should be a little bit smaller than the other two. Pink and black should be the same size.

You will also need to cut out a head and antennas. The head can be pink or red (I like pink to match wings). Antennas were free handed as you can tell. On the red heart you can write a loving message. We stuck with I love you.
You then want to glue the red heart onto the black one like you see in the picture above. The black heart does need to be upside down.
You can then glue the antennas onto the head.
After it is dry you will cut the pink heart in half down the center.
Take the pink heart and match it up with the black one. You will want it to be able to open up so it may be a little uneven.
Last step is to take the fastener through the head and pink heart. This will make more sense with the next picture.

This is what the final product will look like. Your child can decorate the wings and make a face on it. My daughter had fun with decorating. I did most of the rest but it was a fun craft. We did this last year at story time at a local library.

Have you ever made these before? Are you getting crafty for Valentines Day too? It is getting to be pretty fun!
