I was so excited to get the chance to review Nature's Sleep Memory Foam slippers. I had seen them all over the web and they look so comfy. They came at the perfect time. I was in need of comfort because I had broken my foot. Thankfully it healed well enough that I was able to try out the slippers.

As you can see from the picture above the slippers have rubber soles which give you great traction on tile or other click type flooring. This is just what I needed to be sure I kept me foot safe to finish up healing. The best part to me was the memory foam in the slippers. It makes them the most comfortable slippers I have ever owned. I look forward to putting them on at night.

I tend to wear slippers out by wearing them outside (Thankfully I have been stuck in the house) but I bet these would hold up even outside. The bottom of them is very sturdy and does not seem like it would be easy to mess up. I can see these slippers lasting me years instead of the usual month or two I get out of other slippers.

The slippers come closed toe (which as you can see is what I got) and open toed. They come in a variety of colors and sizes as well. I have big feet and actually could have asked for a size smaller. It is hard for me to know because companies are all different.

The slippers live up to the brands reputation. I never knew they even made slippers until I saw another blog talking about them. I always thought pillows and beds (great quality) when it came to Nature’s Sleep. I love my new slippers!

If you would like to learn more about the slippers you can click on the link in the first paragraph. If you would like to enter to win your own pair you can do so below. Good luck!

Christmas Cookie Time With McCormick

**Disclosure: I was compensated for this post. I was not in any way forced to write a good or bad review. These are my opinions and experiences and yours may differ.**

The Christmas baking season is upon us and I love to bake. I think is fun to experiment and come up with new ideas or put twists on old ideas. I got the opportunity to use McCormick spices to bake and I jumped on it! They had plenty of recipes to chose from. I chose to make Spiced Holiday Sugar Cookies. They are sugars with a little twist to them.

The recipe page included a video and was very easy to follow. The video takes you step by step through the process. You can click on the link above to view it.

For this recipe you will need:
  • 2 1/3 cup flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon McCormick cinnamon, ground
  • 1/4 teaspoon McCormick nutmeg, ground
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 1/4 cups granulated sugar
  • 1 cup (2 sticks) butter
  • 1 egg
  • 2 teaspoons McCormick pure vanilla extract
This is what mine looked like before baking:

Directions to make cookies:

    1. Mix flour, baking soda, cinnamon, nutmeg and salt in medium bowl. Set aside. Beat granulated sugar and butter in large bowl with electric mixer on medium speed until light and fluffy. Add egg and vanilla; mix well. Gradually beat in flour mixture on low speed until well mixed. Refrigerate dough 2 hours or overnight until firm.
    2. Preheat oven to 375°F. Roll out dough on lightly floured surface* to 1/8-inch thickness. Cut into shapes with favorite cookie cutters. Place on greased baking sheets.
    3. Bake 8 to 10 minutes or until lightly browned. Cool on baking sheets 1 minute. Remove to wire racks; cool completely.
    4. For the Icing, mix all ingredients except food colors. (Stir in additional milk as needed to thin icing or more confectioners' sugar to thicken, if needed.) Place small amount of icing into small shallow bowls, using one bowl for each color desired. Stir drops of food color into icing until desired shade is reached.
    5. To ice cookies, hold cookie by its edge and dip top of cookie into icing. (Or spoon the icing onto cookie using a teaspoon.) Place iced cookies on wire rack set over foil-covered baking sheet to dry. (The foil-covered baking sheet will catch drips.) To add decorative details to cookies, spoon tinted icing into resealable plastic bag. Snip off a tiny piece of the corner. Squeeze icing through hole in plastic bag to decorate cookies. If desired, Colored Sugar may be sprinkled onto freshly iced cookies.

    My cookies when cooled:

For the icing you will need:

    • 1 cup confectioners sugar
    • 3 teaspoons of milk (add more slowly to thin out)
    • 1/2 teaspoon McCormick pure vanilla extract
    • 3 drops food coloring if desired
Just mix the ingredients in a bowl and ice the cookies when they are cool.

Below are my iced cookies. They were in the freezer a few hours(forgot to take pic). These cookies are delicious and I will use this recipe for years to come. They have been a hit with my husband and daughter and I will be taking them t my mom's place on Christmas. You can find the recipe and video here: Spiced Holiday Sugar Cookies. When I bake I think McCormick baking. Great brand with great products. Enjoy your cookies!

One Lucky Winner will win $20 Amazon Giftcard,
courtesy of author of Wonderfully Dysfunctional: it must be genetic, Buffi Neal
Ending on Sunday 15th December at 11.59pm EST
    Open Worldwide

The true story of... A woman who laughs at funerals. A gypsy mother who refuses to wear a bra and a father who refuses to leave his first wife. A brother who sleeps under the coffee table and a sister who was kidnapped. A cheating minister, a missing uncle and a feisty, red-headed grandmother who was longing to leave it all.

Buffi always knew her family was unusual, but she was lucky enough to escape that gene. Or was she? Joined by her siblings at the bedside of their dying grandmother, Buffi begins on a journey of self discovery as they recall stories of their youth including juicy family secrets, inappropriate practical jokes, abuse and betrayal. She is on a quest to find Normal but finds herself instead.

It Must be Genetic is about an American family of no particular importance, descendants of the once wealthy and revered Perry clan, but stripped of their family wealth during the Great Depression. It’s full of quirky characters like grandmother Mopsie; a sexy divorced mother of two in the 1950’s who would turn the heads of her conservative neighbors when hosting the best poker parties in town, but who can now be found sleeping her days away in the bed of a nursing home. The story climaxes when Mopsie accidentally reveals a secret that sends her family frantically searching through old documents to find the son she gave up for adoption half a century ago.
It Must be Genetic is about acceptance, forgiveness and the great capacity to love. The story is written from the perspective of a third generation divorced mother, Buffi, who realizes that the very traits that make her family dysfunctional may be the same traits that make it so wonderful. At 64,000 words, it's paced for a quick-and-easy read.

    My take:

I absolutely enjoyed this book! I love when an author does not hold back and lets it all out. It was right up my alley. It keeps you on your toes and wondering what she will do next. I think I related to the book because I am a lot like Buffi. She keeps you in tune with what is going on and there is something surprising on every page. I love that about this book. It kept me hooked and I was able to finish it really fast. Definitely one of the best books I have read!

**Disclosure: I was provided complimentary product to facilitate my review because I am a Purex insider. The opinions and experiences are my own and yours may differ**

My daughter stains he clothes all the time and it is so hard to get them out. When I got the opportunity to try Purex Fels-Naptha I knew I needed to try it. It has been around since 1894 and is made by a brand I trust so I figured it would be good. I found an outfit that had a stain on it and I am not even sure what it was. When I went to wash it I used the bar on it and the stain is gone. Purex Fels-Naptha is very easy to use. You just get the stain wet and rub the bar on it. You can also grate it up and use in your laundry to add a little extra stain fighting action.

It comes in a 5.5 oz. bar which will last a long time. Below is a before and after picture of the stain I removed with this awesome stain fighter,

There is still a small stain but  I have no idea what it is and can not get it out with anything. Purex Fels-Naptha has lightened it though! I will continue to use this stain remover for a long time. My child is always making a mess with something. I turn around and there is a new stain on her. If you would like to learn more about the product please visit Fels-Naptha Online.  You can enter below to win a coupon for a free bar! There will be one winner of 3 coupons!                                                   Good luck!!

I have not seen The Sound of Music since I was a kid and am so excited to share it with my daughter tonight. We are Carrie Underwood fans so that makes this even more exciting for us. The show will be aired live and has a great cast. Carrie Underwood and Stephen Moyer will be playing Maria and Captain von Trapp.

For those not familiar with The Sound of Music it was a Broadway play turned movie. The story takes place in Nazi-occupied Austria. Maria falls in love with Captain von Trapp whom has seven children. It is know for it's songs such as "My Favorite Things." It is a loved family classic and I can not wait to see it tonight! You can tune in with me on NBC at 8/7C. To follow along on Twitter use #SoundofMusic and #faithandfamily  I hope you will join us.

To see backstage scenes or for more information on the program please visit Sound of Music.

My next semester starts soon and I should get moving on ordering my textbooks. I am so glad to know that Campusbookrentals.com is there for me when I need books. Not only is it cost effective to rent your textbooks but there are many other advantages when renting from campus book rentals.

    • You can save 40-90% on books
    • They provide free shipping both ways
    • You can highlight in the books you rent
    • Flexible renting periods are provided
    • A donation is made to Operation Smile with every textbook rented
    • Offer 21-day risk-free returns

I think it is great that they donate to Operation smile when a textbook is rented. Operation Smile is an international charity that helps children who have cleft lips and cleft paletes. The organization has over 5,000 medical volunteers who do the reconstructive surgery for free! These kids would not be able to get this surgery without Operation Smile.

Campus Book Rentals also has a new program called rent back. You are able to rent out textbooks that you own to other students. You can make yourself 2-4 time more money than selling back your textbooks. I think it is a great idea and will definitely be taking advantage of it. You can find a video below that will explain how renting from campus book rentals works.
