I was so excited to get the chance to review Nature's Sleep Memory Foam slippers. I had seen them all over the web and they look so comfy. They came at the perfect time. I was in need of comfort because I had broken my foot. Thankfully it healed well enough that I was able to try out the slippers.

As you can see from the picture above the slippers have rubber soles which give you great traction on tile or other click type flooring. This is just what I needed to be sure I kept me foot safe to finish up healing. The best part to me was the memory foam in the slippers. It makes them the most comfortable slippers I have ever owned. I look forward to putting them on at night.

I tend to wear slippers out by wearing them outside (Thankfully I have been stuck in the house) but I bet these would hold up even outside. The bottom of them is very sturdy and does not seem like it would be easy to mess up. I can see these slippers lasting me years instead of the usual month or two I get out of other slippers.

The slippers come closed toe (which as you can see is what I got) and open toed. They come in a variety of colors and sizes as well. I have big feet and actually could have asked for a size smaller. It is hard for me to know because companies are all different.

The slippers live up to the brands reputation. I never knew they even made slippers until I saw another blog talking about them. I always thought pillows and beds (great quality) when it came to Nature’s Sleep. I love my new slippers!

If you would like to learn more about the slippers you can click on the link in the first paragraph. If you would like to enter to win your own pair you can do so below. Good luck!

Christmas Cookie Time With McCormick

The Christmas baking season is upon us and I love to bake. I think is fun to experiment and come up with new ideas or put twists on old ideas. I got the opportunity to use McCormick spices to bake and I jumped on it! They had plenty of recipes to chose from. I chose to make Spiced Holiday Sugar Cookies. They are sugars with a little twist to them.

The recipe page included a video and was very easy to follow. The video takes you step by step through the process. You can click on the link above to view it.

For this recipe you will need:
  • 2 1/3 cup flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon McCormick cinnamon, ground
  • 1/4 teaspoon McCormick nutmeg, ground
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 1/4 cups granulated sugar
  • 1 cup (2 sticks) butter
  • 1 egg
  • 2 teaspoons McCormick pure vanilla extract
This is what mine looked like before baking:

Directions to make cookies:

    1. Mix flour, baking soda, cinnamon, nutmeg and salt in medium bowl. Set aside. Beat granulated sugar and butter in large bowl with electric mixer on medium speed until light and fluffy. Add egg and vanilla; mix well. Gradually beat in flour mixture on low speed until well mixed. Refrigerate dough 2 hours or overnight until firm.
    2. Preheat oven to 375°F. Roll out dough on lightly floured surface* to 1/8-inch thickness. Cut into shapes with favorite cookie cutters. Place on greased baking sheets.
    3. Bake 8 to 10 minutes or until lightly browned. Cool on baking sheets 1 minute. Remove to wire racks; cool completely.
    4. For the Icing, mix all ingredients except food colors. (Stir in additional milk as needed to thin icing or more confectioners' sugar to thicken, if needed.) Place small amount of icing into small shallow bowls, using one bowl for each color desired. Stir drops of food color into icing until desired shade is reached.
    5. To ice cookies, hold cookie by its edge and dip top of cookie into icing. (Or spoon the icing onto cookie using a teaspoon.) Place iced cookies on wire rack set over foil-covered baking sheet to dry. (The foil-covered baking sheet will catch drips.) To add decorative details to cookies, spoon tinted icing into resealable plastic bag. Snip off a tiny piece of the corner. Squeeze icing through hole in plastic bag to decorate cookies. If desired, Colored Sugar may be sprinkled onto freshly iced cookies.

    My cookies when cooled:

For the icing you will need:

    • 1 cup confectioners sugar
    • 3 teaspoons of milk (add more slowly to thin out)
    • 1/2 teaspoon McCormick pure vanilla extract
    • 3 drops food coloring if desired
Just mix the ingredients in a bowl and ice the cookies when they are cool.

Below are my iced cookies. They were in the freezer a few hours(forgot to take pic). These cookies are delicious and I will use this recipe for years to come. They have been a hit with my husband and daughter and I will be taking them t my mom's place on Christmas. You can find the recipe and video here: Spiced Holiday Sugar Cookies. When I bake I think McCormick baking. Great brand with great products. Enjoy your cookies!

courtesy of author of Wonderfully Dysfunctional: it must be genetic, Buffi Neal
Ending on Sunday 15th December at 11.59pm EST
    Open Worldwide

The true story of... A woman who laughs at funerals. A gypsy mother who refuses to wear a bra and a father who refuses to leave his first wife. A brother who sleeps under the coffee table and a sister who was kidnapped. A cheating minister, a missing uncle and a feisty, red-headed grandmother who was longing to leave it all.

Buffi always knew her family was unusual, but she was lucky enough to escape that gene. Or was she? Joined by her siblings at the bedside of their dying grandmother, Buffi begins on a journey of self discovery as they recall stories of their youth including juicy family secrets, inappropriate practical jokes, abuse and betrayal. She is on a quest to find Normal but finds herself instead.

It Must be Genetic is about an American family of no particular importance, descendants of the once wealthy and revered Perry clan, but stripped of their family wealth during the Great Depression. It’s full of quirky characters like grandmother Mopsie; a sexy divorced mother of two in the 1950’s who would turn the heads of her conservative neighbors when hosting the best poker parties in town, but who can now be found sleeping her days away in the bed of a nursing home. The story climaxes when Mopsie accidentally reveals a secret that sends her family frantically searching through old documents to find the son she gave up for adoption half a century ago.
It Must be Genetic is about acceptance, forgiveness and the great capacity to love. The story is written from the perspective of a third generation divorced mother, Buffi, who realizes that the very traits that make her family dysfunctional may be the same traits that make it so wonderful. At 64,000 words, it's paced for a quick-and-easy read.

    My take:

I absolutely enjoyed this book! I love when an author does not hold back and lets it all out. It was right up my alley. It keeps you on your toes and wondering what she will do next. I think I related to the book because I am a lot like Buffi. She keeps you in tune with what is going on and there is something surprising on every page. I love that about this book. It kept me hooked and I was able to finish it really fast. Definitely one of the best books I have read!

My daughter stains he clothes all the time and it is so hard to get them out. When I got the opportunity to try Purex Fels-Naptha I knew I needed to try it. It has been around since 1894 and is made by a brand I trust so I figured it would be good. I found an outfit that had a stain on it and I am not even sure what it was. When I went to wash it I used the bar on it and the stain is gone. Purex Fels-Naptha is very easy to use. You just get the stain wet and rub the bar on it. You can also grate it up and use in your laundry to add a little extra stain fighting action.

It comes in a 5.5 oz. bar which will last a long time. Below is a before and after picture of the stain I removed with this awesome stain fighter,

There is still a small stain but  I have no idea what it is and can not get it out with anything. Purex Fels-Naptha has lightened it though! I will continue to use this stain remover for a long time. My child is always making a mess with something. I turn around and there is a new stain on her. If you would like to learn more about the product please visit Fels-Naptha Online.  You can enter below to win a coupon for a free bar! There will be one winner of 3 coupons!                                                   Good luck!!

I have not seen The Sound of Music since I was a kid and am so excited to share it with my daughter tonight. We are Carrie Underwood fans so that makes this even more exciting for us. The show will be aired live and has a great cast. Carrie Underwood and Stephen Moyer will be playing Maria and Captain von Trapp.

For those not familiar with The Sound of Music it was a Broadway play turned movie. The story takes place in Nazi-occupied Austria. Maria falls in love with Captain von Trapp whom has seven children. It is know for it's songs such as "My Favorite Things." It is a loved family classic and I can not wait to see it tonight! You can tune in with me on NBC at 8/7C. To follow along on Twitter use #SoundofMusic and #faithandfamily  I hope you will join us.

My next semester starts soon and I should get moving on ordering my textbooks. I am so glad to know that Campusbookrentals.com is there for me when I need books. Not only is it cost effective to rent your textbooks but there are many other advantages when renting from campus book rentals.

    • You can save 40-90% on books
    • They provide free shipping both ways
    • You can highlight in the books you rent
    • Flexible renting periods are provided
    • A donation is made to Operation Smile with every textbook rented
    • Offer 21-day risk-free returns

I think it is great that they donate to Operation smile when a textbook is rented. Operation Smile is an international charity that helps children who have cleft lips and cleft paletes. The organization has over 5,000 medical volunteers who do the reconstructive surgery for free! These kids would not be able to get this surgery without Operation Smile.

Campus Book Rentals also has a new program called rent back. You are able to rent out textbooks that you own to other students. You can make yourself 2-4 time more money than selling back your textbooks. I think it is a great idea and will definitely be taking advantage of it. You can find a video below that will explain how renting from campus book rentals works.

    Crunchy Condiment Test (Greenbean Casserole)

I am lucky enough to get to participate in the crunchy condiment test. I was sent three brands of crunchy onions to test out. I tested French's, Fresh gourmet, and Onion Crunch.
With tomorrow being Thanksgiving my mom and I made green bean casserole with a mixture of all three. We put them in sections so we could effectively test them.

Our recipe called for the onions, we used two cans of green beans, and a can of cream of mushroom soup.
This was our end result and it was tasty.

I tested each product on taste, healthiest, and crunchiest. I think the tastiest is Onion Crunch, healthiest is Onion Crunch, and the crunchiest was French's. I liked all of the crunchy onions but all in all my favorite was Onion Crunch. I hope you all have a Happy Thanksgiving!!

Itsy Bitsy Christmas is a children's book written by Max Lucado. The story is about two little mice. It is set during the time of Jesus' birth. The mice have never seen the town so busy before. They have no idea what is going on. The other animals around them teach them about Jesus and how he is king. The animals in town teach them that "You are never too little for his love!"

This was a cute little book and I was happy to see the author was Max Lucado. He is a great writer and has written adult books as well. King's Faith is a powerful movie. A teen boy named Brendan King has been in and out of foster homes (18 to be exact) his whole life. He has been arrested nine times and has a criminal record. When his life spirals out of control and he hits rock bottom he finds Christ. He ends up in a juvenile penitentiary where he learns more about Christ. When he is released from jail he is put into another foster home with a grieving couple. Brendan enrolls in the local school and finds the support that he needs with some fellow believers. His old life calls him back and he must decide if he will chose faith or his old ways.
This movie was great! My husband and I watched it and we both we able to relate to Brendan in may ways. We all get stuck having to chose between bad and good and that is what happens in the movie. The choices you make are what mold you.

Christmas is coming and what better way to teach your child about it then a great book. The Story Of Christmas is a little board book. It is very durable and has held up through Christine's beatings pretty well. I like when  a book can take a beating because Christine is rough with them and it is hard to get her to be nice to books.
This little book uses vivid pictures and goes through the story of Jesus' birth to how he saved the Earth. It is written to keep the child entertained yet teach at the same time. This little book would make a great gift.

I am so lucky that I got to try Seattle's Best frozen coffee. I am a coffee lover especially frozen blended coffee. As you can see above I chose very vanilla, creamy caramel, and coffee chiller. My favorite was the very vanilla because I love vanilla everything.

The frozen coffee blends are made in the blender. I like mine with some ice and thick. You can see how good they look when done though. I wish I could share the taste too. They are amazing! They are all smooth and full of flavor. If you need an easy frozen coffee you need these. You are supposed to divide one package into two ups but I do not like to share when it comes to my coffee. You can find these at your local supermarket.

I was contacted and given the opportunity to try Old Orchard frozen juices. My family loves juice but we really love this brand because there is no added sugar and it is all natural. I tried three different flavors. I tried apple cherry, berry blend, and cranberry raspberry. I loved all of them and had never tried any of the flavors before.

The cans are 12 oz and are very easy to open. They now have a pull tab and it is not messy when opened. I remember opening frozen juices and getting them all over. All you have to do to make them is put them in a pitcher and mix in the desired amount of water.

Old Orchard has a variety of flavors and even has frozen mixers and their newest is iced coffee. I have not tried it but I can't wait to! You can find their juice in the frozen juice aisle. It is affordable and I really love that part.

If you would like to try the juices you can purchase them at your local supermarket. If you want to learn more or see other flavors please visit Old Orchard online. If you would like to win a set of two coupons for free juice you can enter below. good luck!!

Audrey Bunny By Angie Smith Review/Giveaway

    COMMENT

This is the cutest kids book I have seen in a long time. It is about a little bunny who is in a toy store. The bunny is never picked by any of the kids and feels like it is because of a mark on her. One day a little girl named Caroline comes in looking for her birthday gift and she chooses the bunny. Caroline names the bunny Audrey and loves the bunny a lot. Audrey is still self conscious of her spot above her heart. She thinks she is not normal and she tried to hide it. I do not want to give away the whole story but the bunny learns that God made everyone special and everyone is different. As it says in Psalm 138:14 "I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Wonderful are your works; my soul knows it very well."

You can watch a book trailer here: Audrey Bunny Trailer

This is a great book to use to teach your child that everyone is made the way they are for a reason and that they are the work of God. God does not make mistakes including you. It is a very heart warming story. You can buy the book here: Buy Audrey Bunny You can also enter to win it below. Good luck!!

I know some people do not want to admit it but yes Christmas is coming! It will be here before we know. I was lucky enough to get a personalized ornament to review.  Ornament Shop is a great online store that is full of ornaments. They can be personalized with a name and that was the best part to me. This is Christine's first Christmas where she will understand opening gifts. I ordered a cute red snowman ornament and had her name put on it. As a kid I had ornaments with my name on them and loved them. To this day I still have a few of them. I want this ornament to be something she can have all the way up to her adult years.
The ornament I ordered is glass and very durable. The ornament is of high quality and I believe it will last for many years to come. I can not wait to see it on out tree.

I loved the wide selection that they had. The selection really surprised me. I do not think I have seen so may ornaments in one place before. It was really easy to order too. I think the ornaments would make great gifts for kids or other family members. If you would like to learn more or order please go to Ornamentshop.com. I hope you find something you like!

As most of my readers know I recently started selling Avon products. It was life changing for me and I want to share more about it. I am a stay at home mom and student right now. I was not making any money or helping with the bills. I was stuck at home a lot and did not get out to do anything ever.

Since I started selling Avon I am out more even if Christine goes we get out to prospect and have fun running my business together. My fellow Avon ladies enjoy seeing Christine at business events. I am so glad they were accepting of me taking her with me. I do not have a babysitter in the area so she goes with me a lot. Thankfully she is a good baby and is quiet and does not cause problems.

I have started making money to help with bills and have met some great ladies while doing so. Avon is not what it used to be.

There is a new makeup collection, Mark products, kids products, new scents and perfumes, candles and home products and much more. If you have someone on your Christmas list that you need to shop for Avon is the place to go. I was surprised when I saw all of the new stuff. The best part is that it is all at a great price!

The Avon company has been around for a very long time. All of the products are 100% guaranteed. When  a company puts that behind them they must be good. I am enjoying what I do and would love to have more people on my team.

Avon costs $10 to start up and that will include your kit. Your kit has two sets of ten brochures for your first two campaigns. You will get 40% off of your first 4 orders of $50 or more! The best part is you can be anywhere to join my team.

In the book One Way Love the author Tullian Tchividjan believes the world needs to change and needs more God. The book is about helping everyone not just the good getting better. Grace is not from our world but from God. Grace will change your life and the book talks about how. To me Grace is acknowledging that I have done wrong but knowing that I am forgiven for the wrong done. As Christians we sometimes feel we need to be perfect in everything we do and not rely on the grace of God. We tend to forget that it is a gift and it is ours no matter what. As long as Jesus is in our hearts we are forgiven.

This book is powerful. The author is actually Billy Graham's grandson. He is the senior pastor of a church in Florida. He has authored six book as well. You can watch a little video on the book below. You can also visit the book website at: One Way Love Book to learn more.

**Disclosure: I'm a Tommy Mommy and received these books in exchange for this review. However, all opinions are my own and yours may differ.**

I love these books and have since I was a kid. I was so excited when I saw them as an option for October. I am very happy to see that they are still around for kids to enjoy.

It's True written by Mercer Mayer is all about learning the importance of telling the truth.
Little Critter gets carried away with a few lies he ends up telling and decides to run away from home. He won't make it far when his grandpa picks him up and explains why he should tell the truth. Littler Critter learns that even little fibs can get out of hand.
This book is great to teach kids why telling the truth is important. I especially love how they bring up the bible in the book and use it to teach the lesson. If you would like to purchase It's True please go to: It's True.

You Go First written by Mercer Mayer is about taking turns.
Little Critter thinks he needs to be first in everything from getting milk at snack to winning the race. He quickly learns that taking turns and letting others go first can pay off and make you feel better. He learns that we need to treat others as we want to be treated.
This book had a great lesson as well. I love the examples used and how they make it so the kids will understand it better. If you would like to purchase You Go First please go to: You Go First.

Both of these books are great tools to teach your kids about everyday things and use the bible to do so. You can enter to win this set of books below now! Good luck!

As a Christian family we really do not do Halloween. I plan to take Christine trunk or treating at a church and hope to get some pictures to post. We are also going trick or treating with my mom next weekend. Our apartment is not all decorated like some people do but we have a few decorations.

We are carving pumpkins tomorrow I think. The fuzzy jack o lantern is an Avon product that is holding our candy for any trick or treaters we may get. The treat bag is for the moms with some special Avon goodies in it. What are you handing out to kids this year? We have the kiddies mix which has tootsie pops, tootsie rolls, and dots in it. I may throw in a little hugs drink for the kids too.

Christine is going to be a little lady bug. I think it will match her red hair.

That is Christine's costume but we are going to put a long sleeve black onesie and black leggings because it will be cold here. I do not dress up but I might buy some kind of funny shirt saying this is my costume. What are you and your kids going as? Please share your family Halloween traditions here or on my Facebook page.

I hope everyone has a fun safe Halloween.

The Witch's Salvation By Francesca Pelaccia Book Tour

    A witch who demands humanity.

The immortal families who denied her of it.

Two mortals commanded to right the wrong.

That is the fate of the urban princess Anasztasia and the renegade prince Matthias, born shockingly mortal to two immortal families. If they go back in time and restore the witch’s humanity, she will grant them immortality. She will also break a 550 year-old curse that imprisons Matthias’s family in their ancestral homeland and exiles Anasztasia’s family from it.

But to make their lives their own, the heirs must return to the most dangerous day in their families’ past, Easter Sunday, 1457. This is the day Vlad III, aka Dracula, massacred all nobles and their families involved in the death of his father and older brother.

How can Anasztasia and Matthias reverse the past when their families will not speak of their wrongs? How can they refuse when the witch owns their lives?

The Witch’s Salvation is a time-travel fantasy weaved around myth, historical fact, and a whole lot of creative license.

    My View:

I could not put this book down. I love when I am drawn in within the first chapter or few pages of a book. That is exactly what happened with this book. When you stay up to read a book you know it is good. I am so glad to be part of this book tour.
I thought this was the great time for this book tour with Halloween coming up. The book has witches, curses, travels in time, romance, and even suspense. It keeps you hooked in and wanting more.
I do not want to give the whole book away but it was a great read an I highly recommend it!

The Witch’s Salvation is Francesca’s first published novel. She has many other manuscripts in various stages of completion and genres gathering dust on her bookshelves. But it was not until The Witch’s Salvation that she “found her voice”. Francesca lives just outside Toronto with her family.
